Soil-dwelling termites that build mud tubes and silently destroy framing.

Workers are creamy-white and 3–4 mm; swarmers are dark with two pairs of equal-length wings. The diagnostic sign is pencil-width mud tubes on foundations.
Underground colonies that reach wood via soil contact — slabs, foundation cracks, porches, and any wood-to-ground contact. Worse in our sandy, moist soil.
- Mud tubes on foundation walls, piers or in crawlspaces
- Discarded wings near windows after a swarm
- Wood that sounds hollow or crumbles
- Bubbling or uneven paint over damaged wood
Subterranean termites cause more damage to Florida homes than fire and storms combined, working silently for years before discovery. Damage is rarely covered by homeowner's insurance.
