Extremely small (0.5–2 mm), white to gray or dark, with a forked springing organ (furcula) folded under the abdomen. They jump when disturbed, appearing to 'pop' off surfaces. Resemble tiny jumping dots.
Wet soil, organic mulch, leaf litter, decaying plant matter and any moisture-damaged material indoors — wet insulation, damp drywall or soaked subflooring.

Springtails don't bite, sting, spread disease or damage structures. They are moisture-damage indicators. A springtail swarm inside a home almost always points to a water leak, excess humidity or moisture-damaged building material.
Is this urgent?
No. Springtail is a nuisance, not a threat to your health or your house. Most people fold it into a regular service visit rather than booking a special trip. If the numbers keep climbing after you've dealt with the moisture and food sources, that's when it's worth a call.
