How to identify it

About 30–35 mm, uniformly shiny mahogany-brown with no pale markings on the pronotum — distinguishing it from the American cockroach. Adults are strong fliers, especially toward lights at night.

Where it hides

Tree cavities, mulch, leaf litter, gutters, attics and eaves. They're dehydration-prone and seek moist harborage, moving indoors through gaps in fascia, soffits and around utility penetrations.

Signs you have them
  • Large shiny brown roaches flying toward porch and window lights after dark
  • Sightings around tree hollows, wood piles and leaf litter
  • Roaches on exterior walls, fences and eaves at night
Why it matters

Smokybrown cockroaches travel through sewers, compost and rotting organic matter, carrying bacteria to surfaces they land on. They're a leading trigger of asthma when they get indoors.

How Rhino treats it

Rhino treats the exterior harborage and upper structure — eaves, soffits and gutters — along with entry point sealing and perimeter barrier, keeping them from reaching indoor living spaces.
