Big-Headed Ant
Invasive ants with a distinct large-headed soldier caste that nest in lawns and under slabs.

Workers come in two sizes: small minor workers (1.5–2 mm) and large-headed major workers (soldiers, 3–4 mm) with disproportionately oversized heads. Brown to dark brown.
Sandy soil under slabs, driveways, landscaping and turf. They nest deep underground and push soil up through concrete cracks. Common throughout South and Central Florida.

Big-headed ants are one of the world's most destructive invasive ant species. Their underground networks can destabilize walkways and driveways, and they displace native ant fauna across large areas.
Rhino targets the underground network with slow-acting granular baits and non-repellent perimeter treatments, reaching the deep queens that surface sprays miss entirely.
